Student Event Criteria
While using the Mizzou brand for event materials is preferred and required for high-level events, academic events and Mizzou traditions, there are times when a unique look may be created for current student events.
These guidelines may be applied to events that meet all of the following criteria:
- The event is put on by a university unit.
- The audience is current students (may be open to the public.)
- The event is held on-campus.
- The event is focused on current student engagement and activities.
- The event is a limited-time celebration, exhibition, fundraiser, promotion or guest speaker.
Meets Criteria
- Art in Bloom (Museum of Art & Archaeology)
- Fork & Film (Student Affairs)
- Craft Your Community (Women’s Center)
- Global Candy Crawl (Student Affairs)
- Cafe Night (College of Education and Human Development)
Doesn’t Meet Criteria
- Graduation
- Awards Ceremonies
- Mizzou Traditions (Examples: Homecoming, Welcome Week)
- Career Fairs
- Leadership Workshops
- Grad School 101 Workshop
- Researcher Writing Retreat
Branding Guidelines
The guidelines below must be followed for all event materials that meet the criteria above. All materials for these events should still feel like they are part of Mizzou.
Student Event branding MUST:
- Use a primary signature or unit signature on all materials including print and digital marketing, apparel, merchandise and promotional items.
- Include a standardized brand footer on all print and digital materials.
- Use Gotham, ABC Social or Martina Plantijn for body copy, CTAs and contact information.
- Use accessible font and background colors. Check font and background color combination for accessibility using a contrast checker. Your combinations must pass WCAG AAA standard.
Student Event branding MAY:
- Use a non-brand font for the event title/headline.
- May use the brand’s neutral and accent colors as primary colors in design.
- May use a non-brand color in design.
Student Event branding MAY NOT:
- May not change the colors of brand graphics, assets, typographic styles or patterns.
